Kingston's Apprentice of the Year Nomination - Hull Daily Mail
A young apprentice from a Hull-based manufacturer is winning acclaim across the printing industry having reached the national finals.
Stefan Young, 20, an apprentice at Hull-based printer and carton manufacturer Kingston Carton, is the only candidate from the region to be nominated for the British Printing Industries Federation, Apprentice of the Year Award. He has reached the last 25 in a competition which has included more than 800 apprentices across the UK. Now with the backing from his proud employers, Stefan is hoping to be selected for the final three to proceed to panelled interviews in July.
Kingston Carton has developed a reputation for its commitment and support to the Modern Apprenticeship Scheme. Managing Director, Arend Buitendam is hoping Stefan can go all the way and be named the UK's best apprentice. He said: "It is extremely rewarding to have the industry recognise Stefan's achievements and potential. As a company we are dedicated to supporting both personal and professional development at all levels. Stefan's nomination highlights the rewards to be gained from supporting the modern apprenticeship scheme, which we will continue to do through recruiting and supporting new apprentices."
